Halloween dance was a hoot

This year the Halloween dance was a hoot! It started around 7 o’clock on Wednesday, October 25. With only six days left until Halloween the school couldn’t have looked any more spook-tacular.

Did you know, the first ever Halloween was celebrated October 31st 2,000 years ago to celebrate Samhain? Samhain is known to be when the ghosts of the dead allegedly returned to earth right before the Celts celebrated their new year on November 1st.

When we carve pumpkins or have a dance for Halloween it’s just an altered version of a 2,000-year-old celebration. Not everyone in the world is as lucky as we are and can celebrate Halloween with a dance each year.

During our dance we had around 15 students join us all the way from Lyon, France! These students were here for an exchange with our French program. They really enjoyed the dance; some even said they wish that they could celebrate every year with their friends and family.
