Theatre celebrates 10th anniversary

On September 29 and 30, more than 50 current and former BMLSS staff and students helped Bracebridge celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre. To do this the Bracebridge Arts Council put together an evening featuring the Best of Bracebridge talent in the arts, including theatrical arts, performing arts, musical arts and visual arts.

The show featured a beautiful medley of music from the Bracebridge Rotary Club’s previous musicals, including The Wizard Of Oz, Mary Poppins, Music Man and Oklahoma! PRISM Theatre continued the theatrical portion of the evening with bits from two of their plays, Romeo and Juliet and, their most recent production, The Three Musketeers.

In performing arts, Muskoka Dance Connection featured two numbers, including “Don’t Stop The Beat” from the Broadway musical Hairspray. Lily Lu and Shaman Johann from The Bracebridge School of Ballet performed “Don Quixote Grand Pas.”

Also, there were many different dances highlighting the Celtic Arts.

In musical arts, Monck Public School had some of their young students sing “Ca-na-da.” The Muskoka Men Of Song participated in the show as well, with over 30 men on stage joining in song during Saturday’s performance. During the musical arts portion of the show, our very own BMLSS students showcased their talent, including Emir Bawa, Bishop Whitepine and Jet Silva performing some jazz music. Mr. Jordan and Kelsie Marsh sang “Zombies” by The Cranberries, and Justin Cunningham, Melissa Friesen and Emily Kuehn came together and performed “Keep Holding On” by Avril Lavigne.

In the visual arts BMLSS showed up with all of their amazing photography and artwork in the foyer of the school.

All in all this show was an incredible event. We can truly say there will never be anything else like Bracebridge’s pure love for the arts!
